3 Things You Need To Know Before Your First Solo Travel

Travelling is an activity that many people find fascinating and are in love with. Solo travelling, on the other hand, is a subject that remains desirable.

People generally travel for a few reasons- to explore the world, experience different cultures and reconnect with their friends or family from the other side of the world. There's a small fraction in this world who however, chose to travel alone to 'find themselves'.

Here are 3 considerations you need to make your first solo trip a fulfilling one.

1. What is the purpose of this trip?
Here's What You Need To Know About Travelling Solo For The First TimeWhen I embarked on my first solo trip (to Seoul, South Korea), I did not really have a clear goal. I booked my tickets after I received my first bonus (woohoo!) and also because a friend of mine was able to help me get tickets at staff rate. Everything seemed to be happening at the right time so I thought, why not?

I was 19 then and I didn't really think much about what I want to get out of this trip BUT I did know that I want to have fun and meet new people (which I did!); so I guess I did achieve my goal. When you are out alone, it's easy for us to stay in our comfort zone because there's nothing pushing us. This is where the little goals you have set for yourself could in handy.

This may seem like a 'lame' consideration but many of us may not be of age yet. As Asians, we all know how our parents are like. Do you have a strong enough purpose to convince your parents to let you take this trip alone?

No matter our age, our parents would always think of us as their precious babies and there's nothing wrong with that. If this trip is going to be important to you, explain and let them know how it is going to change your life.

2. What do you want to experience?

Let's face it. The world is huge. We possibly can't experience all it has to offer but we can choose what we want to experience.

No matter what you seek- a new urban city, that rustic life experience, a place for yoga and retreats, somewhere with great hiking trails or perhaps a country with a rich history and culture; Think about where you think you might find your calling and narrow down the countries then start planning!

3. How much are you willing to spend?

Your financials are going to define your trip. Since this is going to be your first solo trip, you wouldn't want to be strapped in a foreign land with insufficient cash.

Take a look at the amount you have in your bank account and think about how much you are willing to spend for this trip. This would, of course, also determine the number of days you are going to spend on this trip.

Well, if you have been saving up your whole life just for this trip then congrats! With a stronger capital, you might be able to plan more than a few places. Do so wisely!

Do always remember to have extra cash with you in case of emergencies.
